Hey @durham70, that's a great list of questions. But there is a much more fundamental question to which WW must first change its answer before it can even look at your questions:
- Why should WW talk to us at all?
I'm excluding support communication with the relative few who have received anything from WW. I'm talking just about public communication, not only with KS backers with unfulfilled orders, but also to the general public who are not WW KS backers. And I'm talking not only about this forum, but also the WW KS campaign page, the WW web site, the WW Amazon store, various WW social media feeds, comments at conferences, and WW press releases.
It is abundantly clear that WW utterly lacks sufficient motivation to communicate anything even remotely close to the content of your questions. They started shutting down communication about 3 months after the campaign, and it has only decreased further since.
It is also clear that WW has no real-world legal commitment to communicate with us. That is, there is no legal downside to their silence. No real pressure can be applied through lawyers.
There also isn't any direct financial downside to their silence: They already have our KS backer money, and they aren't yet anywhere close to getting retail revenue. Potential WW investors probably don't care much about what WW says publicly, and instead care far more about talks held under the cover of NDAs.
Then there's the simple fact that WW has very little hardware to ship. They evidently believe it is ultimately futile to talk about much of anything until their product line is actually available.
So, let's go back to my question: The only reason for WW to communicate with us would be to obtain some future benefit. What could that benefit possibly be? There is no way they can undo the 3 year delay. And answering your questions won't affect further future delay.
WW could easily view providing answers to your questions as only opening them up to further ridicule and abuse on this forum, with no upside whatsoever.
Why should they bother? Our frustration isn't costing them anything, and the risk of adding fuel to the fire can't help them.
What tangible benefits would WW obtain by answering your questions? None?
So, let's flip this around and ask a question we can actually answer using real evidence:
- Where has WW been communicating best?
So far as I can tell, only in one area: Third-party device support. Their communication in that single area, particularly in the list @saxnix has been maintaining, has actually been informative and encouraging. Again, I'm excluding support communication, such as the recent threads about the specifics of Alexa integration.
So, to me that proves WW can communicate well enough, at least when they choose to. To me this means they are willing to discuss things that affect WW product development: Device support is difficult to prioritize, and knowing which devices WW KS backers are most interested in can only help that process.
Bottom line, it seems we must ask questions having answers that provide immediate benefits to WW. Past behavior indicates everything else will be ignored with impunity.
Which leads to the next question:
- Can we convince WW to increase communication?
Specifically, can we give them a reason to answer your questions that provides benefit to WW?
I'm stumped on this one. I can think of nothing we can say in this forum that could possibly change things. Only outside forces greater than what we can apply here could possibly have any effect. Perhaps the next major investors will make increased communication a firm condition of their investment. Short of a fairy tale like that I can't think of a single thing.
