At this point, there is no information at all saying that WW "just needs a little more time to get it right". Throwing more money at WW can't change the total lack of useful information in this area.
How much "more time"? Another three years? For how much more money? Another half-million dollars?
Our only data point is that WW has received $454,976 from 1,694 backers, and in three years has failed to deliver on the vast majority of their commitments. In fact, WW has explicitly reduced their commitments to well below their campaign promises.
They already have our money, and they have already said they are going to do less with it than their initial promise. How will giving them more of your money change this? Why and how do you think it could? This has the looks of "magic wishing" to me.
What level of contribution are you suggesting? Let's try some numbers.
Are you willing to give an amount equal to your backing pledge? That would be "doubling down" on your "bet" that WW will deliver what they've promised. The thing is, it's a sucker bet that has no increased benefit. "Good money after bad" is the financial term that applies.
Or are you talking about a few cents? Why and how would these few cents help at all, or even matter? WW has provided no financial information whatsoever, and I'd be inclined to doubt anything they do say, given their overall lack of self-honesty during and after this campaign.
WW has said they have hardware production commitments in place that are already paid for under their Foxconn agreement. The only stumbling block appears to be getting Foxconn to live up to their commitments with a production schedule (and that assumes WW has given them production-ready designs).
Throwing more money at WW won't change the Foxconn situation, unless it goes to lawyers, not engineers.
How do you think your idea could possibly do anything other than make the backers lose more money? Please be specific. It's my money you are asking for, so you should have some solid reasons why and how.
And what leads you to think there is a need to "keep things going"? What makes you think it isn't going just as it always has? Has there been a layoff? Has the engineering staff quit? Do you have staffing and employment information none of the rest of us know about?
I'm not saying you shouldn't go ahead and do this! You are certainly free to give your money to whomever you desire, no matter how irresponsible they have proven themselves to be.
I am saying it would be crazy for anyone else to do likewise. At least, not without solid financial and engineering plans and a ton of communication from WW.
