I have to stifle an LOL regarding your post -- not because I don't fully agree with you; I do -- but because Kickstarter doesn't give a about their Customers (we -- the Backers, are Kickstarter's Customers because KS's revenue comes out of our money before it goes to the Project).
Please do keep me / us posted if you get any helpful response from Kickstarter and any truthful publicity from the media or blogs. Media outlets are just PR machines these days. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the exciting free content that comes in the form of Press Releases from pre-sale gadget companies on KS and IGG; and they put zero effort into any sort of journalistic integrity to verify claims, test prototypes, or follow-up on delayed completion and delivery.
It's sad, but not surprising. It's sad how many recent projects on KS and IGG that are just a couple of months behind, that have dozens of backers clamoring for refunds; especially when the ambitions of these projects were completely unrealistic, or, in many cases, obviously outright scams.
